MRI Scans – #12

Isaiah 26:3 You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You.

July 6th.  Today I had my magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).    I had an MRI with and without contrast. The contract are chemical substances used in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans. When injected into the body, contrast enhances and improves the quality of the MRI images. Before the contrast is injected into your body, the technician will let you know it will feel like you are peeing on yourself, and it’s a good thing because it does.

The MRI scan is a painless procedure that lasts 15 to 90 minutes, depending on the size of the area being scanned and the number of images being taken. The sound was unbearable. According to GE, the typical MRI scanner generates 110 decibels of noise when it’s hard at work, which is about the same noise level as a rock concert or a steel mill. One study found that certain MRI scanners could get up to 118 decibels at their loudest point. Rick and I had our 12-year-old grandson with us and he said I was away for about an hour. I’m sure he was counting every minute waiting in the waiting room.

I know the technician did several 4 minutes, 3½ minutes, 2 ½ minutes, and a couple of 5 minutes tests. I would pray through the minutes or quote the Lord’s Prayer or 23rd Psalm.

The imaging with contrast was 10 minutes. I believe she took 3 different images. I just went through bible stories in the book of Genesis. I started with Genesis 1:1, In the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth. Genesis 1:3, And God said, “Let there be light”, and there was light. Then he divided the waters, then God created the grass and fields. And It was good. Then he created the fowl in the air and the fish in the sea and all living creatures and creeping things.  (Remember this is from my memory with 110 decibels and 96.1 KXY playing in my ear. That’s the county station I listen to since I didn’t have satellite in my car anymore. I requested this station). Then God created the animals and man and Eve. Adam and Eve, had it made. All they had to do was obey God. But sometimes it is hard to stop doing or not do a very small thing. Such as eating from the tree with forbidden fruit. Eve talked Adam into eating the fruit (disobeying God), and they were both cursed and sin fell upon us. They were put out of the Garden of Eden. Eve and Adam had two sons, Cain and Able. Cain committed the first murder. Cain was marked. Abraham and his nephew Lot left their family and journeyed together. Abraham left with his wife, Sarah and Lot left with his wife. Abraham and Sarah and a child by the name of Isaac. Isaac grows up and took Rebecca as his wife. They had twins, Esau and Jacob. Jacob grew up and had Leah as his wife. He wanted to marry Rachel, but his father-in-law tricked him into marrying his oldest daughter Leah. Jacob loved Rachel and worked another 7 years to marry her. Now Jacob was married to Leah and Rachel. Leah had a maiden and Rachel had a maiden. Jacob had children by all 4 women. Jacob had a total of 12 boys, the 12 tribes of Israel. Jacob’s name was changed to Israel. Israel had a favorite son Joseph. Israel made Joseph a coat of many colors. Joseph’s brothers hated him and one day threw him into a pit. Later they sold their brother as a slave. Joseph had God’s favor and even though he was in prison, he was shown favor. Joseph interprets dreams. Pharaoh had a reoccurring dream that he needed interpreting. Joseph, while in prison interpret the dream of a cupbearer and a baker. The cupbearer remembered that Joseph had interpreted their dreams. Pharaoh sent for Joseph and Joseph to interpret his dream. Pharaoh had a dream of 7 skinny cows and 7 fat cows, 7 fat ears of corn and 7 skinny ears of corn. The 7 skinny cows ate the 7 fat cows and the 7 skinny cows were still skinny. Then the MIR was over. Remember this was just what I remembered from Genesis. Please read for yourself to get the complete story.  If you ever have an MRI, don’t forget to ask for earplugs!! They forgot to ask me if I wanted earplugs!!
